Decimal 5 is a British writer, music producer and founder of Purple Dinosaur Music.
Born in Whitechapel, London: the first piece of music Decimal 5 wrote was an orchestral symphony at the age of 6. He grew up in a diverse musical background as his father was a musician. His father pushed him at the early age of 3, and began teaching him classical piano.
Insisting that he wished to give up his piano studies, both parents forced him to continue and ensured that practice was completed daily. By the age of 13, he had completed his ABRSM Grade 8 piano, clarinet and singing exams scoring high distinctions in all; and later continuing to perform to an audience at London’s Royal Festival Hall and HM Queen Elizabeth II.
As a child, Decimal 5 listened to classical, R&B and early dance pop music. His mother was into music ranging from Kylie Minogue to Glen Miller further influencing him. Before discovering dance music, Christian would compose and orchestrate classical music ranging from short piano pieces, to full symphonic movements to which he would write on long plane journeys with the aid of his perfect pitch. After hearing Iglu & Hartley’s “In This City”, he became obsessed with dance music, and by the age of 14 was bought a copy of Cubase.
Spring 2017 saw the release of his debut single “Running Wild” (released on Ninety9Lives), which gained the attention of Super YouTuber ‘CaptainSparklez’, and further being championed by BBC Introducing and receiving spot plays. Following the success of Running Wild, Decimal 5 was hand-selected to appear at multiple UK festivals.
Since the release of Running Wild, Decimal 5 has collaborated with American rapper ‘Mann’ (Jason Derulo, 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar, JR), whom has had multiple Top 40 hits.
